JungleBird is the product of four friends that are passionate about hospitality and the drive to bring something truly fresh to KL’s nightlife. The concept, Malaysiana is a tropical rumah rum that takes inspiration from its surroundings.
The beverage offering encompasses a wide variety of spirit categories with a heavy focus on rum. JungleBird carefully chose rums from around the world with the idea to create an ever evolving selection. This ensures their guests have a constant supply of new rums to discover and enjoy.
The move to Kuala Lumpur in late 2010 was driven by passion to help build the industry in Malaysia and to further his career by taking on operational and consultancy roles. Since then he has consulted for The Big Group, adding his creativity and experience to the first ever speak easy in Malaysia, Tate at the Intermark, and was behind the newly opened talk-of-the-town Circus at Pavilion. Ivanovic has quickly built a reputation in the city as an individual who brings world class ideas and standards to the city's cocktail scene.
In early 2013 Joshua launched his first company, KL Cocktail Co. Sdn Bhd, producing classic and bespoke, ready-to-drink bottled cocktails along side offering a unique and original cocktail catering service and also a consultancy program. To date, Joshua has consulted for some of the best bars in Kuala Lumpur such as The Vault in Sri Hartamas and The Sticky Wicket in Plaza Damansara.
In February 2017 Joshua co-founded JungleBird, Kuala Lumpur’s very first rum bar. With a locally inspired tropical theme and over 250 rums and counting, JungleBird burst on to the KL bar scene with a bang and has quickly become one of the hottest destinations in the city. JungleBird was awarded Best New Bar at the KL Bar Awards in 2017, Top 10 Asia Pacific Best New Bars at Tales of the Cocktail 2018 and most recently Asia’s 50 Best Bars for two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019.
In October 2017 Joshua won the Asia regional finals of the Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge securing himself a
place in the grand final in Trinidad in February 2018.
Joshua Ivanovic's career led him to work at some of the most highly acclaimed establishments in London such as; Members only bar Milk and Honey (Winner of Best Bar in the World 2007, 2008), Celebrity haunt Mahiki (Winner of Best Bar in London 2007, 2008, 2009, Winner of Best Drinks, Winner of Best Drink Experience), The Light Bar located in 5 Star St Martins Lane hotel, The Player, LAB and Dirty Martini.
2008 was a triumphant year for Ivanovic, firstly successfully winning the 42 Below Cocktail World Cup UK Champion title, going on to win the global title in New Zealand earning him the accreditation of World Champion Mixologist. This was followed by another victory in 2010 at the Appleton Estate Global Bartenders Challenge UK final in London sending him to the global final held in Jamaica.
Lolita’s first foray into the world of hospitality began in Singapore back in early 2000, where she spent her time working her way up the ranks through serving, bartending and managing several venues. A self-proclaimed perfectionist at heart with an astute insight into people, Loli (as she is affectionately known) is a firm believer that the customer experience should always take centerstage and one should aim to exceed expectations.
Growing up in a multi-cultural family and constantly surrounded by food, her Asian influence is reflected in her constant quest for maximum flavour, balance, the use of traditional methods and the
championing local produce and ingredients. Just ask her about her latest passion project – JungleBird’s in-house fermentation program!
